Travers was on track for his first race win of the season with a commanding lead of 18 seconds with 4 laps to go in Race 1 of the Shannon’s Nationals GT trophy series, when he came up fast on slower lap traffic that was in the middle of the track rather than . Rather than go around, Travers had to break hard to avoid hitting the slower car and this resulted in a spin with the Audi R8 hitting the tire wall at 220klm. Travers fortunately came out unscathed. Earlier in the race Travers also set the lap record at Phillip Island for The GT Trophy Series with a 1:31.2981.
